Kamala Harris became the second African American woman and the first South Asian American to serve in the United States Senate in 2017. Before becoming a Senator, Kamala Harris served as California’s Attorney General and before that District Attorney in San Francisco.
As a Senator, she has advocated for healthcare reform, a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants, and other important acts.
Kamala Harris has 2 adult step children. She does not have any pets but she likes dogs and she invites dog visitors to her Senate office.
